The Short Answer

In 2026, 3D product rendering for US and UK brands typically costs $150 to $800 per final image once a model exists, and $200 to $3,000 to build the model itself. A first project for one product with six to eight images usually lands between $1,200 and $5,000. Animation is priced by complexity and length, from a few hundred dollars for a turntable to $15,000 for a designed product film.

The Three Things You Are Paying For

Every render quote is a mix of three jobs: building the 3D model, setting up materials and lighting, and producing each final image or second of animation. Quotes differ mostly in how much of the first two they assume is already done.

ItemTypical 2026 priceWhat moves it
3D model per product$200 to $3,000Complexity, CAD available or not, soft materials
Studio still image$150 to $500Resolution, retouching, number of angles
Lifestyle scene image$400 to $1,500Scene built from scratch or from a library
360 turntable$300 to $1,500Frame count, loop quality
Product film, 15 to 30 s$3,000 to $15,000Camera work, exploded views, sound, edits

These are market ranges from studio rate cards in 2026, not quotes. Large US agencies price well above them; freelancers and offshore studios often below.

Why Two Quotes Can Differ Tenfold

The usual reasons are the inputs, the realism target, and revisions. A studio quoting from clean CAD files with one round of changes will be far cheaper than one modelling from photos with open-ended revisions, and both can be honest quotes.

  • Inputs: CAD or STEP files cut modelling time sharply. Photos alone mean more guesswork and more rounds.
  • Materials: fabrics, leather, liquids and transparent packaging take far longer to make believable than hard plastics.
  • Realism: catalogue-clean renders are quicker than lifestyle scenes that must pass for photography. Our guide on why 3D renders look fake explains where the time goes.
  • Revisions: ask how many rounds are included and what counts as a revision versus a new request.

When 3D Beats a Photo Shoot

3D wins on variety and reuse: many colourways, products that are not manufactured yet, angles a camera cannot reach, and consistent lighting across a whole range. A single hero shot of one physical product is often still cheaper to photograph.

How To Brief a Render Project

Send the files you have, a shot list with angles and backgrounds, references for the look, the exact finishes and logo placements, and where the images will be used. A clear shot list is the single biggest driver of an accurate, fixed price.

Ask for the model in a web-ready format too. The same model can power a 3D viewer on your product page, AR on phones and future campaigns.

Working With an Offshore Studio

Rendering is one of the easiest creative services to buy remotely, because the inputs and outputs are files. Offshore studios often quote well below US and UK rates. Check the portfolio for your material types, confirm who owns the model files, and agree review rounds in writing.

What We Charge

Kalex models products in Blender and produces renders, turntables and product films from our studio in New Delhi, for brands in the US, UK and India. Work is quoted per product and per image or second of animation, as a fixed price. See our 3D modelling and rendering service, the pricing page, or send us your shot list.
