Everything from brief to handover
Kalex Studio designs and builds native iPhone apps in SwiftUI, from our studio in New Delhi, for founders and brands in India, the US and the UK. We design the flows people use every day, such as onboarding, paywalls, reminders and settings, before the screens, build with real iOS components so accessibility and dark mode come built in, and ship through TestFlight to the App Store.
- 01
Product & flow mapping
The jobs the app has to do, mapped as flows from first launch to the tenth session.
- 02
UX & UI design in Figma
Every screen and state, including empty, error and loading, in a design system built on iOS conventions.
- 03
SwiftUI development
A native app built with SwiftUI and real iOS components, with Dynamic Type, dark mode and VoiceOver support.
- 04
Onboarding, paywalls & notifications
The flows that decide retention and revenue, with a clear reason given for every permission the app asks for.
- 05
TestFlight betas
Builds on your phone from early in development, so you test the real app rather than a clickable prototype.
- 06
App Store launch
Screenshots, listing copy and the privacy details App Store review asks for, submitted under your own developer account.
Why most first apps struggle after launch
Users leave before the good part
Sign-up walls and permission prompts in the first minute lose most new users.
It does not feel like an iPhone app
Custom controls that ignore iOS conventions make the whole app feel slightly off.
The design was screens, not flows
Errors, empty states and slow connections get improvised, so the app feels unfinished.
App Store review becomes the deadline
Missing privacy details or a paywall that breaks the rules can push a launch back weeks.
How long it takes
- Focused first version, a few core flows
- 6–10 weeks
- App with accounts, payments & a backend
- 3–5 months
How a project runs
- Weeks 1–201
Discovery & flows
Who the app is for, the core job it does, and every flow mapped before a screen is designed.
- Weeks 2–402
Design
Screens and states in Figma, reviewed as a clickable prototype on your own phone.
- Weeks 4–803
Build in SwiftUI
The app built flow by flow, with a TestFlight build to try at the end of each week.
- Weeks 8–904
Beta & polish
Feedback from beta testers, performance and accessibility checks, and App Store assets.
- Week 1005
App Store launch
Submission, answers to App Store review, and handover of the code and design files.
Apps are quoted on scope, because a focused single-purpose app and a marketplace with accounts and payments are different projects. The main drivers are the number of flows, whether the app needs logins, payments or its own backend, and third-party integrations. You get a fixed quote after the intro call, with a written list of what is included.
For an iPhone-first product, SwiftUI gives native performance, new iOS features on day one and the system behaviour users already know. React Native or Flutter make sense when Android has to launch at the same time on one budget, and we will say so if that is your situation.
Yes. We can design the flows and UI in Figma and hand over a documented design system for your developers to build from, or design and build the app end to end.
Yes. We prepare the screenshots, listing copy and privacy details, submit the build and deal with any questions from App Store review until the app is live.
You do. The app is published under your own Apple Developer account with us added as team members, and the source code and design files are yours on final payment.
