Kalex Studio is a design and engineering practice. Websites, iOS apps, 3D and motion, built end to end.

We work in the browser rather than in static mockups. Type, motion and load order turn out to be one decision, and it is easier to judge running than described.

3D product rendering & modelling for e-commerce

We model your product once and turn it into everything the launch needs: hero renders, every colourway, turntable videos for the product page and lightweight models that load in a browser or drop into AR on an iPhone.

Process

How a project runs

  1. Days 1–201

    Brief & references

CAD files or photographs, dimensions, material swatches and a shot list agreed against where each image will be used.

  2. Days 3–502

    Model & clay review

The form is signed off as untextured clay renders first, so proportion changes happen before any time goes into materials.

  3. Week 203

    Materials & lighting

Surfaces matched to the real finish, lighting set to your brand's photography, then hero and detail renders with two rounds of revisions.

  4. Week 204

    Variants & motion

Colourways rendered from the same scene, plus turntables or product films cut for each placement.

  5. End of week 205

    Real-time export & handover

Optimised GLB and USDZ for the web and AR, source scene files, and every render in the formats your team uses.

FAQ

3D modelling: common questions

CAD or STEP files are ideal. Without them, we work from technical drawings or clear photographs from every side, plus physical dimensions. For materials, swatches or close-up photos of the real finish help us match colour and texture accurately.

It is quoted per scope, because a single bottle with three renders and a sofa range in twelve fabrics are different jobs. The main drivers are how complex the product is, how many materials and colourways it has, the number of final images, and whether you need animation or real-time models. You get a fixed quote after the brief.

Yes. We deliver a high-detail model for renders and an optimised real-time version as GLB for web viewers built with Three.js, and USDZ for AR Quick Look on iPhone and iPad.

Often, once a range has more than a few colourways or the product changes regularly. A model is built once, and every new angle, finish or background is a re-render rather than a new shoot. For a single product photographed once, a shoot can be the better choice, and we will tell you so.

Accurate materials and lighting do most of the work: measured colour, surface roughness taken from real swatches, small imperfections on edges and a lighting setup that matches your existing photography. We check renders side by side with product photos before they are delivered.

You do. On final payment we hand over the source scene files, the renders and the real-time models, and you are free to use them anywhere.
