The Short Answer

In 2026, a 3D website costs anywhere from $5,000 to well over $150,000 in the US and UK. The realistic bands are $5,000 to $15,000 for one interactive 3D scene on a normal marketing site, $15,000 to $50,000 for a scroll-driven 3D story with several scenes, and $40,000 upward for a product configurator or an immersive, award-style experience. In pounds, take roughly 20% off each figure.

The spread is wide because "3D website" describes very different amounts of work. Below is what each tier actually contains, what moves the price inside it, and how to brief a studio so the quotes you get are comparable.

The Four Tiers of 3D Website

Almost every 3D site falls into one of four shapes. Knowing which one you want is the single biggest step toward an accurate quote.

TierWhat it isTypical US/UK price
3D hero or product viewerOne scene, usually a product the visitor can turn, zoom or watch assemble$5,000 to $15,000 on top of the site
Scroll-driven 3D storyThree to five scenes that animate as the visitor scrolls, often with GSAP$15,000 to $50,000
Product configuratorColours, materials and parts the buyer changes live, tied to real SKUs$30,000 to $100,000+
Immersive experienceCustom shaders, physics, audio, a world rather than a page$60,000 to $250,000+

These are market ranges from agency and studio rate cards, not quotes. A freelancer can come in under the bottom of each band; a top-tier creative agency will sit above the top.

What Actually Drives the Price

Five things move a 3D website quote more than anything else: whether usable 3D models exist, how many scenes there are, how interactive each scene is, how photoreal the look needs to be, and how hard it must work on mid-range phones.

  • Models. CAD files from engineering are rarely web-ready. Converting and cleaning them is cheaper than modelling from photos, but neither is free. Budget $300 to $3,000 per product for web-ready models.
  • Scene count. Each scene needs its own lighting, camera path and loading plan. Cost scales roughly per scene, not per page.
  • Interactivity. A model that rotates is simple. A model that responds to scroll, cursor and clicks, with states and transitions, is several times the work.
  • Realism. Baked lighting and careful materials look expensive and run fast. Real-time reflections and shadows look similar and cost far more to keep smooth.
  • Performance target. Making a scene run on a three-year-old Android phone is where much of the engineering time goes. We cover the techniques in how to put 3D on a website without breaking it.

What Is Usually Not in the Quote

The line items that surprise buyers are copywriting, product photography for fallbacks, analytics setup, and the version of each scene shown to devices that cannot run WebGL well. Ask whether each is included before comparing numbers.

A good 3D site also keeps its text in normal HTML so search engines and AI assistants can read it, and serves a designed still or video to older devices. If a quote does not mention either, it probably does not include them.

Freelancer, Studio or Agency

A Three.js freelancer is the cheapest route when you already have a design and models. A studio that models, designs and builds in one team costs more per day but removes the handoffs where 3D projects usually slip. A large agency adds strategy and account management on top.

If you are weighing the first two, our guide on hiring a Three.js developer versus a 3D web studio goes through the trade-offs. For the wider picture on site pricing, see how much a website costs in the US and UK.

How To Brief a 3D Website So Quotes Are Comparable

Send every studio the same five things: the tier you want, the number of scenes, what 3D files you already have, three reference sites you like, and the devices your buyers use. Quotes built on the same brief can be compared; quotes built on a phone call cannot.

Add a budget range if you have one. It does not weaken your position; it lets a studio propose the best version of the idea you can afford instead of guessing.

What We Charge

Kalex is a design and engineering studio in New Delhi working with clients in the US, UK and Europe. Our 3D websites build on our multi-page website package, which starts from $1,500, and the 3D is quoted on scope as a fixed price. We model the assets ourselves in Blender and build the scenes in Three.js and GSAP. See our 3D website service, check the pricing page, or send us your brief for a fixed quote.
