A complete project for a single product — model, materials, lighting, and six to eight final images — typically lands between ₹35,000 and ₹1,20,000.
Architectural visualisation runs higher: ₹15,000 to ₹60,000 per still for interiors and exteriors, and ₹1,50,000 to ₹8,00,000 for a walkthrough animation. Below is what drives each of those numbers.
What You Are Actually Paying For
A 3D project has five cost components, and quotes differ because they include different subsets.
- Modelling. Building the geometry. A one-time cost, and the largest single line item for a first project.
- Materials and texturing. Making surfaces behave like real brushed steel, frosted glass, or matte-laminated board. This is where renders stop looking like computer graphics — and where cheap quotes cut corners.
- Lighting and scene design. Studio setup, environment, reflections. Cheap work uses a default lighting preset; considered work designs light the way a photographer does.
- Rendering. Machine time. Usually a small part of cost for stills and a major one for animation.
- Post-production. Colour grading, compositing, cleanup, and adaptation to different formats and crops.

That last row is worth acting on. If your manufacturer has CAD data, requesting it before commissioning 3D work can remove a third of the cost. Most brands never think to ask.

Prices drop substantially for additional images within the same project. The second angle of the same scene costs a fraction of the first, because the expensive work — model, materials, lighting — is already done. Always quote projects as a batch rather than commissioning images one at a time.

Animation costs scale with frame count because every frame must be rendered. A fifteen-second clip at 30fps is 450 individually rendered images. This is why animation pricing is quoted per second and why scope creep on duration is expensive rather than merely inconvenient.
Why Quotes Vary So Widely
1. Reference quality
A project briefed with dimensioned drawings and CAD data costs meaningfully less than one briefed with three phone photographs, because the artist is not reconstructing geometry by inference. Poor references also produce more revision rounds, which is where budgets actually break.
2. Material difficulty
Matte plastic is straightforward. Brushed metal, transparent glass with liquid inside, fabric with visible weave, human skin, and anything with subsurface scattering are considerably harder and take longer to get right. Jewellery is the classic example — small, reflective, refractive, and unforgiving.
3. Revision structure
A quote with two defined revision rounds and one with unlimited revisions are not comparable. Unlimited revisions either means the price already anticipates chaos, or that the relationship will end badly. Two rounds with a clear approval gate after the grey-model stage is the healthy structure.
4. Who is doing the work
Individual freelancers in India charge ₹800 to ₹3,000 per hour. Studios charge ₹2,000 to ₹6,000 per hour equivalent but bring art direction, review, and reliability. For a single simple product a freelancer is often the right call; for a campaign with brand consistency across twenty products, a studio is.
5. Usage rights
Some quotes include full commercial usage; others license for a specific campaign and duration. Clarify this before commissioning, particularly for anything that will run as paid advertising.

The most useful way to decide whether 3D is worth it is to count deliverables rather than compare unit prices.

How To Brief a 3D Project So the Price Holds
- Supply everything you have. CAD files, technical drawings, dimensions, material specs, physical samples if possible, and photographs from six angles including close-ups of texture.
- Specify deliverables precisely. Number of images, resolution, aspect ratios, file formats, and whether you need layered files or transparent backgrounds.
- Show visual references. Three to five images with the look you want, and a note on what specifically you like about each. This single step prevents most revision cycles.
- Agree an approval gate at grey-model stage. Reviewing untextured geometry before materials and lighting are applied is far cheaper than discovering a proportion error after final rendering.
- Define revision rounds in the contract. Two rounds, with a written scope for what constitutes a revision versus a new request.
- Confirm file ownership and usage rights. Ask specifically whether you receive the source model files. Owning the model means future renders cost a fraction of the first project — and being denied them locks you into one vendor permanently.
That last point is the 3D equivalent of the website ownership problem, and it costs brands considerably more than they realise.
Where Businesses Waste Money
- Commissioning images one at a time. Every project restarts the setup cost. Batch them.
- Not securing the source files. You pay for the model once and then pay again in vendor lock-in.
- Skipping the grey-model review. Catching a proportion problem after texturing and rendering means paying for that work twice.
- Over-specifying resolution. An 8K render for an Instagram post costs more in render time and delivers nothing.
- Briefing by adjective. "Premium", "clean", and "modern" mean different things to everyone. Reference images are the only reliable brief.
- Choosing on price alone. The cheapest quote for jewellery or glassware almost always requires re-doing.
What 3D Is Genuinely Worth
Beyond cost per image, 3D buys things photography structurally cannot: visualising a product before it is manufactured, generating unlimited colourways without a reshoot, showing internal components through cutaway views, placing a product in environments that would be prohibitively expensive to shoot, and producing interactive or web-embedded 3D that visitors can rotate themselves.
